The Problem with Pilots

Today, manufacturers are going through a complex adoption process to figure out what strategic business problems the advancements in IoT innovations (analytics, communications, data, sensors, etc.) will be able to help them solve and fix their problems. Typically, this involves the successful completion of a pilot, in order to demonstrate the technical capabilities of your innovation – individually or in combination. Because of the operational impact - what seems to be broken – is the inability to isolate these innovations from their core systems, the time that it takes for the providers to integrate into the prospects core systems and the cost delays due to the integration. Increasingly, this is having an effect on the duration, the completion and the conversion at the end of the pilots.
